If you’ve been anywhere near the internet lately, it seems like all anyone is talking about is keto, keto, keto! But what is keto? A ketogenic diet is a high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet that sends your body into a state of ketosis where it burns stored fat for energy. It has been used as a dietary treatment for epilepsy since the 1920s, but is now being utilized as a weight loss strategy. 

So now you’re thinking you might want to give keto a try—but where to start? One of the easiest ways to integrate some of these strategies is in your morning coffee.

 

Ingredients:

•   8oz of freshly brewed coffee

•   1 Tbsp organic, grass-fed butter

•   1 Tbsp MCT oil

Directions:

While the coffee is still hot, blend up all the ingredients in a blender or with a handheld frother.

That’s it! If you want to make it more flavorful, you have tons of great options to mix it up. Consider adding a teaspoon of cinnamon or make a junior mint in a cup: add a tablespoon of raw cacao powder with a teaspoon of peppermint extract and 2 tablespoons of full fat coconut milk or heavy, grass-fed cream. Who says you can’t have dessert for breakfast?
