What are Amino Acids?

We are sure you heard the phrase “amino acids” tossed around in high school, but do you remember what they do for your body? Turns out, they play an integral role in your personal health. In short, “amino acids play central roles both as building blocks of proteins and as intermediates in metabolism...Humans can produce 10 of the 20 amino acids. The others must be supplied in the food. Failure to obtain enough of even 1 of the 10 essential amino acids, those that we cannot make, results in degradation of the body's proteins—muscle and so forth—to obtain the one amino acid that is needed. Unlike fat and starch, the human body does not store excess amino acids for later use—the amino acids must be in the food every day.”[1] Yikes! That sounds pretty serious, and how can you be sure you are getting all of your essential amino acids? “Animal-based foods contain all of the essential amino acids, while most plant-based protein sources are low in one or more of the essential amino acids.” Excellent sources of amino acids in your diet can come from lean meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, and plant-based sources such as quinoa or soy.[2]

Want to know another great source of amino acids? Verve Burn! Not only does Verve Burn provide you with the amino acids your body needs, but it also helps replenish vital nutrients and boost your body’s metabolism throughout the day.* It also enhances your body’s burn potential,* curbs your appetite,* increases your energy,* and provides nutritional support.* What more can you ask from a 12-ounce can?

Should you still eat a healthy diet and incorporate a daily exercise routine into your life? Of course, but we all have those days when we are running behind or simply running low, so give your body the boost it needs so you can power through your day with the nutrients you need.
