Crazy for Collagen

If you follow us on social media, you know we’re all crazy for collagen! But what is collagen exactly and why are we so excited about it? “Hydrolyzed collagen is collagen that is derived from bovine bone and cartilage. Usually, the bone is crushed, ground, defatted, soaked in acid to remove the calcium, soaked again to break the collagen bonds and then dehydrated. This process results in small, intact amino acids which have not been damaged. These amino acids are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream, and are used as the building blocks of new collagen.”[1] Collagen is a protein that makes up one third of the human body, acting as the support structure for the body in addition to maintaining the skin’s strength and elasticity. “With age, the body produces less collagen. The structural integrity of the skin declines. Wrinkles form, and joint cartilage weakens...By the age of 60 years, a considerable decline in collagen production is normal.”[2] But not to worry--hydrolyzed collagen can help! Hydrolyzed collagen helps support healthy skin and connective tissues and healthy joint function.* Additionally, hydrolyzed collagen helps promote healthy skin, potentially improving elasticity and reducing the appearance of fine lines.* Why not give yourself a chance to redefine the way you age? Give your body a boost with collagen as you work towards your health and fitness goals and feel the Burn!
